Health Care Reform

yeah you support programs for the greater good that inconvenience me.. but if it came to something that effected you in a crazy way like for example housing a homeless person you would be absolutely completely against it.. even though it WOULD have an ENORMOUSLY positive impact on society..
Don't take everything so personally. It will turn you into a very angry person, which will surely reduce your quality of life and dictate the need for health care (e.g., high blood pressure medicine).

My lifestyle is not inconsistent with or hypocritical to my philosophy. I regularly give to charities and to local schools that my children attend. I also occasionally volunteer. And I work in a "greater good" profession.

Where do you see solution 2 even working? We deport them, they'll come right back. No matter what you do they will always enter illegally.
wall of f**king fire. haha

well, the reason they come back is because obviously the penalty isnt harsh at all. If they were murdered for illegally comming to the states, i bet less of them would try

id rather NOT have to pay for 30 million other peoples healthcare. Because of this bill, the price that a doctor charges will skyrocket because of malpractice insurance, what are we going to do then?
Malpractice? The only reason malpractice suits even exist today is because ou have lawyers who are being taught that ANYTHING can be sued. If a person looses too much blood in an operation, they can sue

trust me you will never pay my bills... i make enough that i would be forced to pay them over time.. so rest soundly knowing that my tab would not be yours... now stop trying to sell me s**t i dont want.. thanks.. ;)
Oh, cause that's right, because everyone has enough to pay their doctor bills.

this is fine, being a productive member of your community is great! But carrying the weight of others who choose not to even try to help themselfs is bs. You cant tell me that your more than happy to give up your hard earned money so the Meth addict in the town over can go to the clinic to get free needles and spend the night to get free food.

Make the process so a person doesn't wait 3 years before they even get the INTERVIEW to become a legal citizen and you'd have more becoming legal citizens.

that's an option, but that would never work. Unfortunately illegal immigration will never end. there's mexicans cross the boarder at this exact second. that would probably turn into a war

if you punish the businesses that hire these people and put them under they will no longer have a reason to come.. there was a town in the south west that did exactly that and it worked well, i posted a link on here a while back...

war to secure our borders or war halfway around the world fighting someone because we thought he had something he didnt...

which sounds MORE ridiculous to you...;)

Here is where we differ. You must take the good with some minor bad points if the program will overall be better in the long run for the majority. There is no perfect program. While you focus on a few negative cases, I concentrate on the overall good that will come from the Bill.

the problem is you can't just let infinite amounts of people come live here.. it sucks but ONE particular area ONLY has so much in the way of resources, and if they let TONS of people roll in here and live we would exhaust the areas resources in a way that it would become super populated like some other areas of the world... it is in our best interest to meter immigration and make adjustments based on the demands and needs of our nation..

Because it's so easy to control that.

Why not just make it easier for someone to become a citizen, and make them pay taxes?

Closing businesses is only going to cost YOU more money because that company won't be paying taxes since it'll no longer be in business.

I never said infinite, because more than likely, more than half won't do it. Why not let the people who WANT to become legal citizens, do it? It's not going to cost you anything, if anything it'll help lower your costs.

NONE of you are addressing the most important issue..

The government is creating NEW law that will FORCE you to buy something because they feel it will make things better.. this creates a precedent for behavior of the sort.. and while you agree with what they are doing today.. wait until you dont..

I have no reason to NOT agree. I already pay for my health care. It's not affecting me at all.

just because a business generates tax revenue does not mean i support it.. if it is a country hiring illegals they are WORTH being shut down as i see that as a one way funnel pushing US dollars down south..

because making there be a wait helps regulate the amount of people entering at one time... again imagine if an entire mexican city immigrated at one time to a state like deleware.. could they handle that? deal with that?

umm...the people have to choose to sue before they go to a lawyer. People are sue happy because they are lazy f**ks, and want to make a dime on someone else because its too much work to earn your own money. Look at that dude in the Prius, Toyota found absolutly nothing wrong with his car...but since the recalls, he decided it was his chance to make a quick buck.

If people were not so sue happy, the cost of healthcare would drop.

in 2008, over 1 million people were naturalized in the United States. How many applications were there? how many people work in the office? how long does the background check take?

These are things that need to be taken into account. It would be a mistake if you applied for citizenship on a friday and were a us citizen on monday.

Then penalize them. Don't make the business go out of business. Make it worth their time to hire a legal citizen.

But under your idea, those WAITING to become a legal citizen would already be deported since they have to live here, ILLEGALLY for 5 years before they can become a legal citizen.

It's been addressed. The Bill is not a precedent for new behavior. You have been paying taxes for your entire adulthood, and much of that tax money goes into programs that the government feels will make things better, whether you agreed with them or not. This new precedent is a figment of your imagination.

I know my taxes have often gone to programs that I do not support. When I am lucky, sometimes my tax money goes to programs that I do support. I accept our imperfect system.

They don't have to choose, they know they can sue over anything and they can win. If the legal system was upheld and lawyers were penalized for taking cases that were so absurdly stupid and wrong, we wouldn't have so many malpractice suits.

I'm not saying make them citizens over night. Just don't make them wait 3+ years before they even hear anything on their application.
