Woah slow down. Seems like your intentionally diverting Laozy thread off topic! Oh snap that is an infraction!

Laozy why do you care what everyone else thinks.
If you ever do get either car and make it a sweet track car, go with whichever YOU like best.

I'm not diverting anything and this thread is STILL on topic because imo:

1) If we wouldn't criticize on each others comments, then Laozy wouldn't see how big the arguement is between his decision and so for.

2) It keeps the thread on top so other members that have not seen the thread and look in here and be like oh, here's a good reason why you should pick "xxx" over the other.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And now, back to what I have to say... Laozy, I recommend you first look and research more into each chassis choice before actually start looking for one. Reason behind this is because if you know how each chassis varies, then it'll better suite your lifestyle. You said during non summer seasons, you want this car to be your DD right? Well if so, then you'd want something more comfortable and appealing to your eyes upon walking up to the car, opening that door, and sitting inside. I know all Civics are relatively the same in one way or another but being comfortable in your own car is what makes the car worth while.

The whole reason I made this topic is to see what you guys think, because you guys have more knowledge and more experience than me. I'm still in my early ages of learning about cars. You can say that I need to think about getting other cars because Civics aren't all the hype... In my eyes, I see that Civics are MY ideal car... Sure you guys can say that it has problems and you wish you had a different car, but I don't care about that stuff. I would be lucky if I were you guys. All I care about is that I have a car that I bought with my own hard earned money. i don't care if something breaks or somethings wrong, as long as I get to spend time with it and work with it, I'm happy... This isn't a topic about "Dis the nerd and his dream to own a Civic." So please cut me some slack...

don't be.. because even with them being abrasive they are honestly trying to help you (well most of them).. the truth of the matter is when MOST of the people on this site got into Hondas that was kind of the "in" thing at the time.. and you are honestly lucky.. because the parts and knowledge I had available to me at the time were FAR less than what you now have to work with.. so if you really love Hondas and want to throw one together go for it.. but i think what some of us are warning against is your somewhat unrealistic goals... to say you (a 16 year old kid) wants to buy a 17 second econobox 80-110hp car and transform it within one summer to a 350hp monster is kind of ridiculous.. and is honestly just not reasonable.. again this is just me with almost a decade of experience with these cars.. I am NOT telling you to give up on a Honda.. i am NOT telling you not to get one.. they are in fact great fun cars.. BUT at the end of the day remember the weaknesses of the car are rooted in the fact that it was not meant to make that kind of power.. so even if you did have enough money to put together that kind of car, you will then need additional cash to maintain it... because you WILL break s**t left and right.. so if you instead say I want to put together a 200hp turbo hatch.. that is TOTALLY reasonable and believable.. but when you say you want to build a 350 hp car and yet have no idea where you are even going to start.. no offense.. but its likely not going to happen.. my earlier comments involving something like a Mustang were made because those cars make decent power stock.. but if you plan to autox the car then maybe not the best choice.. BUT if you want to drag race the car.. a Mustang will do it.. and it will do it cheaply... but follow whatever route you think will make you happy.. at the end of the day its not going to matter much if you get a hatch or a coupe.. get whatever you prefer.. at 350hp extra weight might actually help you have SOME traction.. deciding between a hatch and coupe is splitting hairs and really doesnt matter all that much.. IMO..

Thanks man... Its just I had a really rough day today. The added comments didn't help either... 200 does seem very reasonable to me too. The whole reason I spazzed out like that is because I just realized I wont be able to graduate no matter how hard I work for it... So I'm still blowing off some steam...

I think there's a rant thread if you want to vent.

But OC is right, we aren't making fun (at least some aren't trying to), we're just simply tossing out our experiences with the cars and what not. Everything in this thread will help give you ideas and how to go about picking out your future car. GOOD LUCK.

This is Club Civic; we're here to help give advice, give you hell, give you laughs, and in the end, we'll still be here for you to dish out everything you give out as well.

You can set reasonable attainable goals and still challenge yourself.. a 200hp Honda is not exactly going to be simple.. but it is far more reasonable than 350hp.. granted.. hp is just a number.. but once you reach a certain threshold things become VERY difficult and expensive.. not only to reach initially but to maintain..

you figure the car alone with be 1k- 2k.. a swap would be roughly 2k-3k (just say a gsr swap for arguments sake 170hp at the motor) then a decent turbo kit i really don't know the cost there and it can really range.. you can get a really high end prebuilt kit for a few thousand OR you could piece something together maybe for a grand? dont really know.. even just say a grand to be safe.. good suspension.. tires.. rims? you can easily see that this car will cost you between $5k and $10k, and that isn't even considering all the small s**t, and tuning.. this is assuming you are prepared to do all the labor yourself.. so be realistic with yourself.. set reasonable goals.. and get them done..

why is it that you can't graduate?

Haha thanks toneekay. I also think I've posted in that thread but no one ever writes in it. All this information will definitely help me make a choice in a car, and I'm going with a hatch. I've always loved the look of them. :D

this is a really really really valid point.. sometimes we are harsh, but we are just being honest.. sometimes the honesty of CC comes across roughly.. but hey.. us being HONEST is a whole hell of a lot better than us just stroking you off telling you something like "yEa DAWg MaKe DAT HonNDA, DaTS Wuz UP!".... if thats what you are looking for you came to the wrong place.. lol CC is the home of BRUTAL honesty.. and well if im about to do something that makes no sense.. i would rather have someone stop me, as opposed to letting me waste time and effort on something that would be pretty unreasonable..

why is it that you can't graduate?
I failed 9th and this year because I thought school was a joke. And I'm way to far behind to graduate. I am missing about 25 credits and I need 27 to graduate...
Ya you guys are very right, it was just the wrong time for me. If it was any other time I would have brushed it off like it was nothing. I mean, I would rather have someone tell me the truth than rather having someone say, " Ya man, of course that will work. I did a quad turbo in my car too." Lol. But thanks for all the help. Everyone has been really helpful.

Well I'm a sophomore this year so I got 2 years left. And I wouldn't be able to take summer school due to sh*t going down with my family.
