most cops around here are cool. but we do have some that are complete assholes. example, my brother was on his way to work pulled out onto the highway and got on it some, not speeding or burning out or anything, drives by two cops a little up the road who are out of their cars talking they jump in and pull him over, the lady walks up first and is nice about it, just tells him his exhaust is a little loud and asks if he has been warned about it before, he says no, which is true. so the other guy cop runs up starts yelling at him telling him if he ever sees him do that again hes going to give him a speeding ticket and C&I(keep in mind neither of the cops were in the cars when he drove past them and he did nothing to warrant getting a C&I) this is the same cop who had his car towed and impounded a while back because he was being stupid and did a burnout in the mcdonalds parking lot, parked the car, and all the people there went inside. cops show up later look at the cars and start taking pictures of his hatch and leave. later one of his friends comes up and says hey man they are towing your car. so everyone runs over to the window and he goes outside and notices his car is all opened up, glove box open and everything sitting in his seat, asks the cop who the hell went through his car and the cop says i did, he asked isnt that illegal and the cop replies put your hands behind your back your under arrest, never read him his rights or explained anything. they wrote him a ticket for C&I and property damage cuz the parking lot was cracked, both of which are bs and would have been dropped easily in court since they never saw whos car it was, and even if they could have proved it was his car there was no proof of who was driving it. then the cop later tells him he heard him burning out for 10 minutes one day. dont get wrong he broke the law but the way the cop handled it was also not the way it should have been handled. like i said most cops around here are cool but there are two now in town that are complete dicks and like to show off their authority. in my experience 90% of the cops ive dealt with are very cool, down to earth people, but then you get the ones that think they need to show off their authority just because they have that badge. those are the ones i dont respect. that badge doesnt make them above the law.

I was raised to respect your elders and the authority. And I did for the longest time. Even when others spoke badly about other LEOs I stood up and argued the opposite.
But two bad incidents have now changed my views and I despise them every time I see or encounter one. Except for the ones that are my family members and friends. I know they are the exception because I know them personally. Though I have never seen how they react on the field. However, they have shared stories of what other cops have done that they would not want any part of.
So the two incidents I've encountered were basically being profiled. I'm not a young guy though I look very young for my age. And the fact that I dress very young may play the part but I'm a wise, respectable, kind hearted person. But for looking like some young punk (which I'm not) the cops tried to entrap me (yes, I know the definition and use of the word) into a situation that would have made me BE the violator. But I kept my cool and kept silent and refused to answer the officers. They had no choice but to let me go. And on another incident, the LEO withdrew his gun and pointed it right at my back...saying that I'm making him nervous with my body movements. "Body movements"??? I'm on my motorcycle, in full leathers, no access to any pockets because I didn't have any, no baggage, engine off, hands to the side where visible, not armed, sitting on the bike, no backpack, daylight, and he has the nerve to pull his weapon out and point it at my back for being pulled over for going 30mph in a 40mph zone?
You gotta be f**king kidding me! what if the gun had gone off like in the BART, Oakland subway incident.
That was the final straw.
All I want to know is if I see a LEO pull some questionable arrests, can I knock the mutherfucker and proclaim citizen's arrest on the mofo?

Your brother broke the law, how does that make the cop a d**k? Since cars can easily be moved, a cop does NOT need a warrant to search it. If their is reasonable suspicion, they can search the car without the owners consent. That being said, since they took pictures of the car and then left.....it sounds like they went to show a witness who then confirmed that was the car they witnessed doing a burnout.....seems like reasonable suspicion to me.
And you know that you do NOT need to be read your rights right after being cuffed. You dont have to be read your rights at all. But if they dont read you your rights, you can say whatever you want and it will be admissible in court.
Being an EMT... I can tell you quite honestly it's not just law enforcement that gets disrespected. Any one in public safety catches hell. Granted, some officers do use that silly little badge to their advantage, most of them don't. I can't stand it when people disrespect ANY public safety employee. I think it's been made quite public that they don't make what they should... If you don't know... Look up an average salary for a police officer or even a medic... IT's quite. sad. But the reason most of them do it is for love of the job. That's why i chose to be a medic. 
Well, the county boy that showed up I wrestled with in high school, and has been a long time friend of the family. He was standing in my front yard laughing at the town cops. One thing I should have noted, that of the two town cops that came, one was a younger guy and the other has been around for quite a while. The older guy was being cool about it. The younger guy was doing what he could to get someone in trouble. And yes, I know 100% noone could hear us...I stood in my front yard the next morning with the music playing the same level and heard nothing...it's just computer speakers...
And to the car reference, yeah, already proven that my car is faster, but thanks anyway...told you my cousin is a county boy. I could run him juuust fine...not that that really has anything to do with the story...
p.s. I still wasn't an ass to him...

I don't purposely disrespect police officers, the ones around here just tend to have an air of arrogance about them that is obnoxious as hell. 9/10 times when I actually REQUIRE assistance, it isn't received, but I suppose things happen that require more attention. However, I have been ripped from my vehicle by two male officers, my vehicle searched without my consent, and that did leave a rather large scar considering they were flamming assholes. But I sued and that was that. Not every cop is the same, at least my boyfriend who is a cop isnt a d**k like alot of them are lol.
I dont disrespect cops, they have a duty to protect and serve us. If my civic was stolen I expect them to find it. Even if it means pulling me over to check if my civic was stolen.
However, I do not like it when they stereotype and are already thinking guilty. They stereotype and profile based on my car, racer like, and profile me because the way I look. My buddy looks like a thug, bald, big, and buff. Cops pull him over all the time just because the way he looks. Its amazing how often this happens. How often do you find yourself stereotyping others though. And I'm not putting down on you or your buddy... But think of how often others conform to a stereotype. Take a guess on how many times it's saved a cops life. I've seen it time and time again. "Hey, this guy has -that- look to him. I better be careful" Next thing I know i'm getting my ass kicked all around the back of an ambulance because he's high as a kite. :/ People don't ALWAYS conform to what you expect... But when it's a "Most of the time your right" situation it can make a difference. However annoying it may be... It's the way they are trained.
I find it funny that when the video of the guy on the bike with the camera on his helmet got pulled over by the unmarked car......everyone on here was throwing a tantrum about the cop. Saying ALL cops are dicks and power hungry, and every other insult in the book. I was one of the two or three people that stood up for the cop. Now that this thread pops up, everyone starts their post with "Oh I respect cops...."

my pointIm pretty sure they are trained to trust no-one, regardless of how they look. Its a tough job. It sucks that not everyone could be themselves while on the road because cops may automatically judge them. People will get pulled over if they have a bumper sticker that says 'f**k COPS." But they are just expressing themselves, and they have that right. But on the road, I want to avoid cops, so I have to comply with all their regulations, and consequently I cannot express myself for fears of getting pulled over. Example, my buddy has a red sports car, its a great color!, but he claims he gets pulled over because of the color of his car. This is a different buddy, he is a marine. He claims red stands out and thats why he gets pulled over. Fed up, now he wants to change the color of his car to avoid getting pulled over, even though he prefers his car Red.
You cant be pulled over for the color of your car. Just because red attracts attention doesnt mean that cops will pull you over. They will pull you over if nothing is done wrong. Maybe if your friend drove within the rules set by traffic laws, he wouldnt get pulled over as much.
That being said. I have had a red civic for a year now, and havent been pulled over once.

Notice how a lot of posts start with "I respect cops...", then they go into some story of why they don't like them.
I won't sit here an preach my case as I have already done on a couple different threads here already. I was one of the 3 that stood with your opinion in the bike thread.
I have and always will stand behind law enforcement officers. Just like anything else they are human and there are bad eggs or ones that let the power go to their head. You aren't supposed to bring your civilian life and emotions into the job, but as humans it is impossible not to.
