Your from Sacramento? Ive never been down there, but sounds like they are being more lenient. Yea, situations are all different throughout CA even thou they all follow the same rules and regulations. I guess it comes down to the city and how much of our tax money should go to waste pulling over these so called modified cars. LA sucks! its the hot spot. I prefer to live up north =)

Its my goal in life to move up there, not to modify cars but to live the life.

*shrug* they seem to have better things to do. though i think i've been overlooked a bit 'cuz of my washington plates. XD

boy i'm glad i live in indiana... no inspection, no emissions, you don't get pulled over for modding your car... my exhaust has no cats and no resonators and no problem =)
same here, but change it to ohio.

and to quote you again...
on the flip side, the winters are harsh, the nearest beach is lake michigan, there's no fresh seafood, and there isn't s**t to do around here
lake erie...

Ummmm maybe since California is one of the most polluted states.....thats why they care about modifying cars that will pollute the air more?
Psh. Screw that. We're going to use up all the Earth's natural resources by the time we have great great grand children and the ozone is going to be depleted within the next millenium. Let's f**k s**t up while we can .

no way there's vast oceans of oil that haven't been discovered or have been discovered but falsified notions of depleated oil brings the price up just like diamonds.

If you guys were to google the most polluted cities in the US, LA will be number one or among the top 5 all the time. Its crap down here. But there is sure alot of things to do, from the beaches to hollwood, to Long beach NASCAR races, to museums and shopping, the list is endless. LA is a tourist hot spot. Driving a car is the only way to get around since our public transportation is all messed up. I dont know how are freeways in other states, but its a b***h here. a 15 minute drive may end up to be an hour drive, no joke, doesnt matter how fast your car is.

What I don't understand is... Why the hell does it make a difference if you have CARB legal parts or not.. It's not like they're that different from non-CARB legal parts other than the fact that DC paid for the CARB sticker (and I guess if you get a different cat). You're like the only state out of 50 that gives a s**t about it and a lot of the cities in CA are one of the most polluted states in the US.

I'm glad I don't live there. But I'm not glad I live in NY. One of the highest taxed states in the US. Woo!
Yup thats NY, expensive to live! It will be hard to move out there and start a comfortable life. Same as San Fransisco, expensive as hell!!

Sucks, the laws are strict in Cali, but people are modifying there cars elsewhere, looks like its balancing out anyways. It should be all states or NONE.

... not to be shitty, but... holy five posts in a row, batman.

CA is the most populous state in the country, it makes sense that it'd have some strict laws... particularly compared to states that don't even have the population of one of the big cities here. :what: just sayin'.

Man, am I glad I live in Maryland where no one gives a crap about what you drive. Ricers and loud-as-hell muscle cars all over the place. I've been to San Jose in CA once and I saw tons of convertibles and Priuses, but not much else. I don't think I'd want to live there anyways, especially with all of the strict laws. I just love it when I read the packaging on a product and see stuff like "this product produces a substance known to the state of California to cause birth defects and other crap." Well good thing I'm not living in California!

Regarding the limit for lowering, when I had my car inspected the first time the guys told me that it was too low for the headlight alignment machine so they wouldn't finish up the inspection. Total BS since it was practically stock at the time except for a new exhaust. I was thinking about putting sandbags in the back to try to raise the front when they also told me that the wipers I had installed didn't pass either. Well fine, I took the shitty $5 wipers off and got some $10 ones and went somewhere else. On the plus side, it had a burnt valve at the time and it still passed emissions with a nearly perfect score.

exactly.i live in the 3rd most populated metro area in indiana and we've only got 317k people around here. just slightly over a quarter million, not that many at all. my actual city only has an estimated 50k inhabitants.

so many states have inspection. good thing we don't have em here... well, kinda. there's a lot of beat up vehicles that really shouldn't be on the road... but they're getting their owners to/from work, so whatever.

Please explain to me how that is wrong. That is the SAME as a drunk driving checkpoint. And if its AGAINST THE LAW then there is nothing wrong with giving a ticket out for it. I would LOVE to hear your defense on this.

I don't really see anything wrong with it either. It may suck for some people, but perhaps they should think about that before getting illegal mods. The cops are just doing their jobs.

Not if its profiling I live in MN and I watched a Civic get pulled over for loud exhaust (I was the driver lol) and than a truck goes by with such loud exhaust I couldnt hear the cop ask for my license and he just shrugged it off, I was like okay I know mine aint that loud why pull me off instead of that dude

Ummm because he had already pulled you over and was giving you a ticket before that driver pulled by. This baffles me. He isnt going to see a Civic with loud exhaust and say "okay, now Im going to look for someone with an even LOUDER exhaust and not pull this person over."

Cirevam

The point he's trying to make is that there are tons of loud trucks but if an officer sees a little import with an exhaust that is anything but stock he'll pull the import over and leave the trucks alone.

SO by that logic..

someone should be able to sell crack cocaine because not EVERYONE who has ever done so will be punished?

someone should be allowed to murder because not EVERYONE who has ever done so will be punished?

we should be able to ignore ALL traffic laws all the time because well someone is getting away with it..

your logic is ridiculous..
don't want to be hassled by the cops? there is a SIMPLE solution... do not break the law.. lol
