So this is what this part actually looks like? XD

$75 shipped, decent deal considering the condition I think.

UUuuuuugh, I hate winter. Three days without power at my house. Stupid ice storm. I hate the cold because I can't even work in the garage. Single digit temps make fingers not work FAST.

I also have to apologize for being lazy. When we got that new tv, I got a 360 and have basically been wearing my thumbs off catching up on what you kids have been playing for three years now. That's what I get for having a Wii and no other late gen console XD

When the weather breaks (and business picks up, which it's started to) I'll be back at it. Pulled the teal monster out of the garage today for the first time in months. Would've lit on the first try had I given it some gas, but I like to see what it's going to do without interference first.

Vato Zone ring sealer is doing its job. Down to the last 800 miles on this oil change and it's only eaten one quart of oil. Let's hope we're done with snow, although there's no guarantee of that until May lol

Yeah yeah yeah, I usually just say "4th gen" lol

I've got rockers and a rear bumper filler, need arches, a front driver side fender and front bumper filler and I'll have all the metal I need. Then: $$$ XD

So it wasn't losing compression, although the ring sealer did help with the oil consumption. I noticed a disturbing symptom on the freeway at night when it started losing power and coughing. Sparks from the tailpipe. Rich condition? Hell yes. I touched the o2 sensor and the wire fell apart. It's replaced and running strong again. Silly stuff.

Warm weather, got a few things done.

Cleaned the intake manifold up after getting it off of the head. Two cans of brake cleaner and it looks much better. Stupid distributor I got has one of the cap screws snapped off inside a hole, gonna take it to my shop guy and have him get the damn thing out.

I've gotta back off some on what I want to do or it's never going to get built. Gonna do the a6/z6 mini-me with the GReddy bolt on turbo using the e-Manage Blue. Stock cam, injectors etc. Lame sauce? Yes, comparatively. Cheap? Yes. Much faster than a stock turd of an a6? Yes. I'm still going to build the bottom end for possible future upgrading since the rings are shot and it's all coming out anyway, and to be able to push more than just 6 or 8 pounds of boost if I want. We'll see. I'll get some pics of how the intake mani looks now tomorrow in the daylight.

Nice what are ur plans for bottom end parts if your planning to stay low budget? Just rods and pistons? That may run about 450-550 on ebay all together? Sound bout right?

That's exactly it. FJ custom length rods and Vitara pistons, about $550 total for what I want. But, can't order until the last thing since I won't know if the bores need to go over .5 or 1 mm due to wear/gouges etc. And of course, they may not need to be bored at all. I'd rather not spend the $$ if I don't have to. Right now it's time to work at the stuff I've (mostly) got. Gonna get the head checked over and cleaned up, replace the valve stem seals etc. I've got trailing arms off a teg in my garage for a rear disc conversion although the calipers might be shot. I've gotta deal with a popped hood hinge now, too. It's like the car is 20 years old or something..

Awesome. The guy at my shop thought he was doing me a favor by "taking my exhaust apart and putting it back together nice and tight." Yes, it did sound good without any leaks, the problem is the eBay header doesn't fit 4th gen civics for s**t despite being for "88-00" civics. So my damn high flow cat aka test pipe cracked big time yesterday and now it's loud as hell again. I really need a header that fits well, that is, the output meets up with where the stock exhaust sits. Recommendations for brand? I'd rather spend less than $200 (I know there are $300-400 options), but I'm over buying the $60 eGay specials. Thankfully I get paid next Tuesday, but for now I've gotta roll the ZJ. 20mpg freeway ftl. :/

4040 prop valve for doing the rear disc conversion the right way. And a chrome short-throw shifter because it's phun. =)

Ordered up a Megan test pipe. Thinking about a Pacesetter header. Looks like the second piece has some angle up on it, unlike the piece of junk I have. Anybody have one?

Pacesetter header ordered up, as well as a new hood hinge. Hopefully going to put them on next Thursday if the parts get here by then. Rolled 200k miles last week, btw. =)

Alright, managed to do some schwetty werk in the 92 degree heat today. Got the exhaust done. Pics? Fo sho. I know how you roll. :D

Before with the piece of crap eBay header that didn't really fit:

No header:

Two solo hours and done, mostly getting the old parts off. New Pacesetter header:

Side by side of the old and new. This is why we don't buy the Chinese garage-made specials, kids. Look at the placement of the o2 bung. The cheap one made me cut a hole in my fan shroud and take a notch out of my fan blades so it wouldn't shred the wire. No problem with the new header. Also, note the second bend in the long pipe on the black one. I always wondered why the $60 part didn't have one since it practically dragged along the ground.

Garbage eBay part:

Tucks up in there nice, don't it?

Ground clearance no longer an issue:

Gonna give it a few days and tighten it up again. It sounds great and the thicker material of the header (and maybe the paint, too?) actually makes it noticeably quieter under the hood. Makes me happy I can hear the muffler.

Oy. Missing knuckle skin. Tightened up some exhaust stuff, always gets me. Did some other odds and ends.

Junk:

Tha new new:

It even lined up right (I just fit it into the grooves where the OG one was) and it shut like it was supposed to, no hood latch firing through the top of the radiator or anything XD:

And my, what a fly OEM battery tie-down lol:

I R OEM as f**k:

Ordered up a rear wiper arm and a driver's side vent assembly. The spring on my old arm is blew out and half the flaps on the left vent don't stay open. Ordered some rear wheel arches too. Debating some 15" black eight spoke rims with a machined lip, too. Wife bought me some tires for my birthday. She's trying to motivate me into rims. She also likes body kits too tho, so I don't know... lol

Helloooooooooo, nurse! XD

Well, that was $40 well spent. Just kinda points out how badly I need to clean up under there again lol truthfully though, the old valve cover with all the peeling black grossness was the worst part of the bay. Now to start scrubbing rusty bolts/ordering new ones and whatnot.
