No, McDonalds is not lying about their food. But they do not advertise as using real meat absolutely anywhere. They dont even use real cheese. If you pay close attention to their advertising, they use such catch phrases as "real flavor" in place of real ingredients. Even using slang allows them to state something they know the average person will misconstrue as what they think they mean. Selective wording is how these companies get away with alot. So yes, they have built a multi-billion dollar franchise by successfully lying and misleading their patrons.
"Our goal is quality food above all else. From the potatoes that become World Famous Fries to the fresh produce in our salads and the
100% pure beef in our burgers, we’re committed to serving you the very best."
"McDonald’s is the largest purchaser of
American beef in the U.S., and we do not buy beef from South America. In order to keep up with our requirements for lean beef, we do import a very small percentage of beef from suppliers in Australia and New Zealand, who are required to meet the exact same high quality and safety standards as our U.S. suppliers."
"McDonald’s beef comes from cattle corn-fed in the U.S. Additionally, in order to keep up with demand, a small percentage of grass-fed beef is imported from Australia and New Zealand."
"All of our chicken comes from our trusted USDA-inspected suppliers in the U.S., like Tyson Foods and Keystone Foods. Our beef and pork products also come from trusted USDA-inspected suppliers, such as Lopez Foods. In order to keep up with demand, a small percentage of our
100% pure beef is imported from USDA-inspected suppliers in Australia and New Zealand."
"Despite all those myths out there, none of our meat is fake! McDonald’s uses only
100% USDA-inspected beef from real beef cattle to make our burger patties. Our chicken is
100% USDA-inspected real chicken, supplied by industry leaders like Tyson Foods and Keystone Foods, and the same high standards apply to our
100% pork."
These were taken DIRECTLY from their website. Interested to see where you get the claim that they don't advertise anywhere about being real meat when in these quotes it is stated multiple times on their own site. The first quote is from the very top of the section that is called "what we are made of" and "food quality".
By the way, USDA regulations are nowhere near as ironclad as they appear. For example, Taco Bell is required by the USDA to have at least 40% real meat in order to be allowed to legally call it meat. The other 60% can be a plethora of bi-product & filler. They were sued a few years ago for falling short a few percent. This is fact. Oh, and I single out Taco Bell on this fact because they actually advertise using real meat, unlike McDs.
Hmmm.... It was shown on the news (ABC I think) that the meat at Taco Bell is 88%. Now this came from the CEO (which could have been true stretching) in an interview in 2010 (IIRC), but it was never rebutted. If it wasn't true, it would have been fought and they would have been sued. Which they were but it didn't hold because they obviously had no proof against it. Again, rumors don't count.
Yeahhhhh... I can promise you I haven't ate there in years and wont eat there ever again.
Ditto and it isn't because of health nut conspiracy theories either. Like I said previously, I don't care for fast food because it doesn't taste good to me. It's worse than tv dinner junk and that stuff is pretty bad.
