You kept the IACV on the manual, right? Making sure, because if you swapped the one over from the automatic, 99-00 IACV's are different between auto (3 wire) and manual (2 wire). I agree with the others on checking your throttle cable. Pull your intake and take a look at the throttle plate...

Have any Interstate battery centers near you? My buddy got one there for $50 + core charge. Cheap because they have some sort of external blemish on them but work fine. So they can't sell them to other stores, but allow people to come to them to buy. Not sure how the warranty works for them...

Yeah, Y7 transmissions are pretty weak when it comes to taking abuse. Since you said the trans fluid is good, likely your 2nd gear set is chewed up.

Never assume the code is the same. Stop down to your local parts store and borrow a code reader. Then you'll know =P
