If you're trying to keep up with a Z28 you're probably going to need boost or nitrous. A good N/A build can get you there but it's hella technical.

I have a B16 myself with a Skunk2 chipped P28, Toda flywheel, Exedy clutch, and Type One exhaust components and I do just fine. It's not fast, but it's not very expensive and mine is my daily driver. It's very fun.

Don't build your car because someone's picking on you. Build it because you want it built and build it right, from the bottom up. If you really want to build your motor do some extensive research. Find out how your motor works and what makes it faster and what type of performance you're looking for. Most people who responded in your thread don't know s**t and have stock single cams. Learn your car. Most importantly, learn how your car is now and then figure out what you want. Get used to how it drives, etc.

don't knock the man for his wire loom. It's no different than going gaga over some reservoir socks and fender washers.

I will say, your car isn't my taste.

To make it go faster, boost is probably your best option for bang for your buck. However, try playing with some engine management and the right bolt-ons and it can make you happy.
Fender washers are lame IMO, they distract too much from the bay.

B16+P28 is an awesome combo. I rode in one and I was impressed!

I'm still amazed at a few people in this thread. Darkcreep, at first it appeared that you were just purely trying to bash, but alteast you've tried to help with giving the op a sense of direction etc... + atleast

Nike dude, wtf is your deal. I don't like ricer stuff AT ALL, however, the point of the thread as the op even restated was to get more info on SUGGESTIONS FOR THE ENGINE. He didn't keep saying, "hey what do you think about how my car looks etc..." So dude, chill out and try not to come off as a completely useless flamer that gets off doing that rather than at least trying to look like your helping the guy with some kind of suggestions on his original question. I'm sorry, but your type of attitude, (and it's not the worst I've seen unfortunately) is the reason why I don't usually like to surf forums as much anymore. Try to help the guy out and be productive rather than waste your time making yourself feel bigger by flaming the hell out of someone repeaditly. /end rant. Mods, do what you will with my post. However, I think some of this crap could use some cleaning up.

As to the op. As I said, superchargers are a great way to make reliable power without spending as much cash on a complete turbo kit. Either way I would suggest buying a prebuilt kit since they have all the work of sizing a turbo and all the misc stuff done. It's alot more work than you think and as much as I like the idea of saving money on making my own kit, it's much harder to rationalize that it will be just as reliable and be less of a pain in the butt.

Nice pick up.
Start with the exterior, THEN, the engine bay.
