make sure the engine you buy an an OBD 2 which are found on 96+ hondas

my suggestion is to go for a B18C1 which is from an Acura Integra GSR, very nice motor to boost

good luck

thats cool if he took over, tell him that a b18c1 is a better engine than the b16. if you have trouble finding one locally, then go to that link. they are a very reputable shop! hell, put him on this forum, we'll convince him for you

But in terms of buying a used engine that has been sitting up for anywhere from a year to 3 months i would rather have a b16 built from the oil pan up. not after market all honda.

But it will be more then that...you have to think

Motor=$3200 shipped from hmotorsonline.com (old quote might be more now)
Timing belt, water pump, belt, axels, tune up, and if it was me new head gasket and piston rings...way over her 3,250.

to do it the right way and have a good shop put it in will be atleast $4000.

i'd just go w/ the stock b16 because of ease, it will drop right in but you may need some odds n ends, that would be the best route
