2000 Si With A D16y8

you shouldnt have problem with your law suit if he listed it as a DOHC, if its truely an Si (rear disk conversion?), and he didnt tell you it had the Y8 and not the B16. Not sure what you can do other than sue for return of the car and get your money back or try to get some money out of him. However, deciding how much the car is worth without the B16 is going to be tough and even harder to prove in court. I'm interested to see what the VIN number is...

all you have to do is look for EM1 in the vin if it is then sue him for misleading information UNLESS he sold it to you AS-IS, (then your stuck) but if its a canadian car and its an EX then to their code its an SI

Anyone ever heard of a 2000 si civic with a d16y8? This wasn't stock was it? Cause.. I realized today my car is a poser! Its got the dohc vtech writing on the side.. but you pop the hood to see that whimpy ass sohc vtech underneath..

does it really say "VTECH" last time i checked it says V-TEC... but on behalf of your car man that sucks, now thats a expensive lesson.

lol, did you guys not read the thread? she ran the vin through carfax first and it reported w/ a DOHC

before i bought the car i did a carfax report, and it said it was a 1.6 ltr 4cyl dohc vtec

*example: i bought an integra that suppose to have dual front air bags. after buying it and driving around for a while i noticed the passenger side air bag cover was hella lose..so i pulled it off and what do i have hear? NOTHING...and i checked the drivers NOTHING....checked the srs light...NO BULB!!! and there u have it..hope u feel better

my father and i own/run a small chain of used car dealerships in eugene

as far as legal action... it might be tough
the car is still truly an si.... just doesnt have the si motor
depending on the listing, sometimes it wont let the seller list any specifics about the motor... if he didnt swap motors all he'll have to do is claim he didnt know the original motor has been taken out

I helped a friend swap a d16z6 into a 94 integra gsr... they did it becuase they got the shell cheap with a blown motor, swapped in the z6 for good gas mileage
when he sells it he's still gonna list it as a gsr.. because the car IS a gsr... he has to insure it as a gsr and all because the VIN is still a gsr VIN
but he will be disclosing the motor swap

wow way to get all technical ooo i threw in a dash. i know what it is. and im not the one that didnt check under the hood to see if it was an si or ex. so i dont see myself as being ignorant and if anyone takes it that was im sorry it just seems like a dumb mistake to me. i know when i buy something i do a little more research on it.
