97 Civic EX Engine Swap Help

Need expert opinion about engjne swap from D16 to B18 motor. I plan to spend at least 5K including labor.

B18C, B18C5, etc. or B16, B16a, B16b, etc. Basically, all I want is a good stock 180hp or more and most importantly reliability. What B16 & B18 motor that is a direct bolt in to 97 Civic EX? without any welding to the chassis.

All those engine bolt right in without any welding...

try and find a deal on a b18c5, and get some friends that know what they are doing and will either swap it for free, or real cheap...you might be able to get it done for under 5k, and you would have a real reliable, 190 hp....if not, then swap a GSR motor....little cheaper, but not as fast

yea do research, its always good to check out ur options before buying, and think about what u want, do u just wana swap? and than leave it stock or would u like to add boltadds ecu etc... just think before u spend, cause u can only spend once, but you can research and look around many times. and welcome to CC

Looks like a decent price. click here but u can't find them cheaper if you look around...

just about any b-series will drop straight in... (well, maybe except a b20a, but u don't want that anyway)...

since you have an odb2 car, go with an odb2 swap.

I forgot to add one important option. The motor should have a LSD.

The only one's with LSD's are the Type R engines...(tranny)

yeah ITRs come with an LSD stock. you can always get an aftermarket limited slip

take your 5 grand, sell your car, and then buy my hatchback....its got the b18c5 motor, lsd tranny, and a bunch of other good stuff...well over 180hp, and super reliable 8)

there you go. you'll have a better power:weight ratio as well and be much faster
