97 Civic EX Engine Swap Help

yeah man, most people have...so if you want some specific information, your gonna have to ask some specific questions...you wanted to know what motors you could drop in w/o welding, and we told you...you also might wanna try and do a search, if not here, then google it, cause im sure there are millions of pages that will tell you what you need to do, need to look for, need to have, all that good stuff...

take your 5 grand, sell your car, and then buy my hatchback....its got the b18c5 motor, lsd tranny, and a bunch of other good stuff...well over 180hp, and super reliable 8)

i'll buy your hatch for 5 grand

only if u get the jdm gsr tranny with lsd.
the type r tranny is the only usdm b-series tranny that came with lsd factory

just dont get a CTR motor (because i am) to uncomplicate things for you, I'd just get teh USDM teggy type R motor with LSD tranny. It drops right in, 190 hp, quipped with LSD, and it makes great gains off of bolt-ons and N/A builds.

yeah i know Anf.....but how often do you hear about CTR COUPES?! I'm one of those people who buy things for the name. Whether its outfits, shoes, or whatever. So I wanna go all out on this car. I'm also watching and waiting on this guys turbo build on his type R. He's pullin' good dyno numbers. I know there's a shitload of cash thrown in, but im a patient guy. 300 saved....3300 to go. WOOT.

ur over paying...i l ive in massachusettes and its the boondocks..no import seen unless ur in boston or in hartford connecticut so everything is way more expensive...and theres a swap place that does the b18c(gsr) swap for 4300 including install

well ummm......If im gettin' a CTR motor....i dont think i care much about GSR and ITR swap costs. and im getting what i want for less than what you're posting here. Anyway, lets stay on this mans topic. If you need some cheaper motor prices, look into www.totaljdm.com www.hmotorsonline.com they have some pretty good deals.

my two cents...i have a 96 ex, i put a jdm b16a in, it came with a LSD, the only thing i would have done different would be to get a b18c instead. full cost for me was about 5 grand, i also had it changed from an auto to a 5spd at the same time which added 2 grand in parts and labor. it runs perfect, passed emissions cuz we put in a 99si ecu, very reliable and fun to rag on. i couldnt be happier......until i find more money. o yea, and the swap prices i paid included parts and labor on the VAFC and an exedy 3 puck clutch (going turbo)

Thanks! since I have a budget of 5k I will try to get a ITR including install. Just bec. ITR has a stock LSD.

If I swap a ITR motor with manual tran, what other parts did you replace from your 96 ex? linkage, wire harness, mounts, etc.

haha, nah....i meant take the 5k he already had, then add on whatever else he got from selling his civic, THEN buy the hatch....

i pretty much had to repalce everything, and use all 99 si parts to make it to where i didnt have to modify anything. since i was converting tranny too, i pretty much started from scratch.
