i would disagree with most of the people here. weight reduction does make a difference, but it all depends on how much power you have. what is your motor setup? doing a weight reduction on a stock or little mod car. it would be a waste of time just to take off 1/8 of a second. but if your running under 15s, weight reduction will help out as much 1/4-1/2 depending on how much weight taken off.

:werd: ya'll saying it isn't worth it are dumb asses.

The tar/sound deadening material alone is a good 40 lbs. Seats are 35ish, spare and jack is a bunch more

the saying that I have always heard and go by is "every 100 lbs you can remove you cut off 1/10 of a second"

all im saying is that he probbly wont notice a difference...my friend had a eg hatch, fully built GSR motor, and turbo'd....runing low 13's (un-tuned)...he went through all the work of ripping out his carpet, headliner, back seats, tire, jack, even scraping off the tar....he didnt notice a difference....now i dont know what kind of power this kid's civic has, but if its just a normal civic with the basic bolt-ons, then he might as well keep all the comfortability of having a full interior

im talking about the power to weight ratio. you are right that at the line is doesnt make that big a diff. i think we are getting sidetracked from the main idea of the post

and somehow you manage to compare 100,000 dollar cars to 10,000 dollar cars.... wtf? the main idea of this thread was to get some pixers of a gutted EK... even so, gutting a 100 hp car is so incredibly pointless. not to mention if its an everyday driver.... its gonna be so damn uncomfortable.... witha full interior my car only weighs 2094lbs... no point in taking things out....

a gutted 5th gen ex coupe weighs less than the si hatch.. the weight is the only advantage the si hatch has over the ex coupe and is the only reason it runs faster times.
a friends dad is a weighmaster driver and weighed the two cars for us
he only guts it the day of the races when he takes his car to the tracks. for daily driving it's just retarded
