I think the culprit is the ecu. I drove my friends 90 si with intake, header, and 60 mm invidia exhaust, and his stock revlimiter of 6500-6800 rpms clearly is a disadvantage for him. you can't even get up to 60 or 90 in 2nd and 3rd gear is his car. I have at least 300 rpms more than him by me using the p08 ecu for the d15b vtec engine. I'm reaching 60 in 2nd and 93-94 in 3rd. All I have is an aem 99-00 b16 si cai on my car. and my car is definitely faster than his with my stock si exhast.

for the dx, with completely stock you can hit 65 in second, and 93 in 3rd, and the same goes for the si, look in the owners manuals, i also used to own a 88 dx and it was no problem with just a intake to hit those numbers, now i have a si, once the motor is fixed i'll cinfirm those numbers also with it, all it has is a k&n air filter and muffler, so i'll let ya know.

Ok, cause his was an si, and it hit the revlimiter dead at 87 mph in 3rd.
