I wouldn't go to crazy. Just get the intake and exhaust ports increased so that the head flows more efficiently. Also get a stage 2 cam and make sure you get the proper springs and retainers to go along with the cam. You may also want to do some valve work. If you want to bump the compression up a few point you may also want to have the head milled. Or you can go with a thinner head gasket.

Start up video from last year

Just remembered that I had this. Here is what the car sounded like last summer. This was a few days after we got it running.

I LOVE THAT SETUP. I have a 94 2 dr sedan inbetween motors, I had a d16a6 that I put in it cuz I blew up the d15b when I boosted it. But my d16z6 is supposed to be here wednesday. Anyways, When I boosted the 1.5 everyone was like why? that is stupid. But I loved it. The first night the 1.5(on 5 psi) was in it I raced a gsr with a few bolt ons and he only beat me by his front bumper. HE WAS TRIPPING!! He thought that he was gonna just eat me alive, but it didn't happed like that. I have done nothing to the body. I like people not knowing what I have. When I started it was all on a budget but now I had the money to upgrade to a b series but I love when people look under my hood and go "that aint s**t" and then when I beat them they always make an excuse. It's not about having the fastest, there will always be someone faster but about doing the impossible. I just 2gs in parts for my d series and I saved that up working for SEARS. NOW that shows you that anything is possible.

If you haven't already milled the head going to a thinner gasket can't hurt. Will you notice a difference, I am not too sure. But if you are having to buy a new one I would try it. As for a cam that is a real toss up. There are so many different ones out there and I only have experience with custom ones. I would recommend getting a hold of John @ RS Machine or Wil @ Exospeed.

yeah ive already milled the head. I guess im just trying to get as much ounce of power as I can before I even look toward an engine swap. But Ill look into the cam.

Anybody have experience with dh-racing heads good or bad? Anyone have a crowler stage 2 cam for d16? What kinda gains can I expect with it? Did it kill your mileage?

We were actually discussing that thought last night. We were thinking of putting it in my 4dr, but I drive a lot, so for me probably not worth it. It was for my race car but I got a custom one made instead. I haven't heard of anyone using one on the street. But I am sure people probably have.

well I was thinkin that I was gonna go with the crowler stage 2, or a custom one. Really Ideally I would rather have stock lobes for low end and a more radical vtec. How much do custom grinds cost. Surely they could just regrind a stock one for what I need.

They are usually not much more, if any difference at all. Now regarding the lobes normally you want a smooth transition so that you don't even notice vtec engaging.

Well the reason for the stock type lobes is I am a college student, and I drive back and forth. I sold my motorcycle so this is my only vehicle. If I had a plain stage 2 cam I would have larger lobes than stock and it would kill my mileage. I'm in the chat room if you want to go there.
