Before I go out and spend the time and money to do this, I want personal reviews from people who have actually done this. My room gets cold as f**k. It gets to be the coldest room in the apartment. My roommate and I recently acquired a programmable thermostat. So it's not like the heat isn't coming on. I can feel it because my bed is right next to it. I actually sleep with my head slightly off the bed and over it because it keeps my head warm lol.

The only thing I can think of is the windows. But they're relatively new. 4-6 years old according to my roommate, and he knows a lot about construction, home modeling, building, etc. And he said since they're fairly new, wrapping them wouldn't make much of a difference. But I'm thinking otherwise. If I wrap them and can save even 5 degrees worth of heat, that's a huge bonus for me. 5 degrees can make a huge difference. Who has done it and has noticed a difference? Big or small? Worth it or no?

Input appreciated. Thanks.

How do you "wrap" a window? I'm curious as well, my room is also COLD AS f**k. I have two 6'x3' windows side by side and that s**t isn't f**king real glass, that s**t's like cheap glass and f**king lets the cold inside and what not. Oh yea, and my air ducts are clogged I assume and the heat doesn't get to my room as much as it should.

the plastic generally helps with the wind more than keeping the cold out... if you have a drafty window.. any wind storm will reveal that... the curtains will move... all of mine do... i want to COVER my windows in plastic but my wife thinks its tacky... but she also complains its cold and turns the heat up..thus driving up the heat bill.

one idea instead of plastic... use blankets on the windows... i know it will cover up the light... but... it will do a far superior job of keeping the heat in than plastic...

in other words... if you just have regular slat blinds on the windows. try hanging thick curtains there also or use a blanket. if the blanket is sealed up against the window frame so there is no gap... you will notice a difference within probably an hour.

Okay so I did it on my room windows... And wow. I'm SO glad I did. I had so much cold air coming through 1 window, it kept pulling the plastic off the double sided tape. I had to hold the plastic down while I blow dried it. And even when I blow dried the entire sheet, it was still bulging into the room because there's that much cold air trying to get in.

Guess we'll see how this holds up now.

I've wrapped my windows in plastic the past two years. It does work on older windows, newer windows it works but not as good.

My house was built in early 70's, so would the windows be old enough to work?

yea it is worthwhile... We did it in an old house we rented, and it made a dfference.

I would aslo invest in rubber molding around the door, etc...

If you own the house... new insulation is something you can do yourself, and makes a difference as well.

it works well, did mine about a month ago and already saved 50 bucks on last years heating bill... seems worth it to me for about 15 in materials.. Also insulated the garage so that could help too

im from so cali and now live outside of philly and i must say anything below 40 is freezing to me. we put the plastic over our windows in the winter and if you have curtains no one will see the plastic. it helps so much you wouldnt believe. we have newer windows in our house and the draft still gets in. they make kits that make it easy to do at like home depot or lowes.

If there was no snow, mountains, or snowboards/skis.. I'd be out of this f**king cold shitty ass weather. Fortunately my room is the attic of our house, so a lot of heat goes up there

it can be like 5° outside... and if theres snow... im out there.

i also hate the wind.. cold and wind to me suck...

i wish snow worked the other way around. like it rains when cold and snows when hot
