Hey all....I'm looking for a new system and i searched this forum but couldnt get a direct answer to my question. : If you have audiobahn subwoofers, preferibly the flame Q, how do you like them...? I know that they get loud but how is the sound quality and stuff like that. A buddy of mine doesnt want me to get the audiobahns because he has heard that they have poor sound quality and they blow rather easily and he suggested (since he's into all of these "i've never heard of them" brands, that i get the Tripple X 12 inch subwoofer. I have another buddy that has 2 audiobahns 12's, which are being fed 300 watts each, and to me, they sounded great. the other reason for getting the audiobahns would be for their nice chromed out baskets. I want to do a semi-show quality trunk install and i liked the way that the audiobahns looked. I can also get a great deal on them off of eBay. So, lemme know your comments with these subs and whatnot and lemme know if I am going in the right direction. I was planning to power the 12'' sub with a Profile Clarus 1200 Amplifier (300 watts rms x 2 channels @ 4 ohms). Thanks. =)

I had two of the flame audiobahns..the sound quality was shitty, and the SPL wasn't spectacular either. If thats all your budget allows, then go for it. But I wouldn't get em.

um... pioneers are much nicer than audiobahns.

but, we all know what i think of low quality, ricey SPL woofers. you can save up, pay a bit more for SPL AND sound quality you know. loud doesn't have to sound like s**t.

Uhhh Audiobahn are one of the best SOUNDING and hardest HITTING subs out..... In fact, they have won more awards for SQL than Pioneer....It really just depends on the brand of bahns you get (as with anything).. Its severely a listeners preference however.

I swear by Audiobahn equipment, so Im biased. ;)

everyone is biased. i'm not a fan of pioneers, but i'd take even an IMPP over an audiobahn. i think audiobahns are sloppy. of course, i haven't bothered to know what models are which.

and i GUARANTEE there are woofers that sound better and hit harder. there's always something else that's better.

not to mention... it all depends on the install & setup

plus... I hate that "WE ARE THE BEST" claim. it's bs. i could say the same thing about my woofers cuz they are one of the leaders of SQ AND SPL... BUT... damn near every major company makes that claim. it's only to sucker you in & make you think you have bragging rights. ;);

The only others I heard that sound better honestly are Cerwin Vega stuff. For some reason it just tickles my ear..... :what:

as with any brand there are high end and low end components, the low end ones blow ass from what I have read. I have never had a pair though, people complained about them blowing out but most of them didn't break them in properly.

The Audiobahn AW1006T are some of the better of their subs that still have the flame basket design.

The 10s retail for around 250 a piece, I found em for $82 "Buy it Now" on ebay

i'm gonna have to agree.....

on top of everything audiobahn subs deteriorate/wear out quickly.

Although this is mostly based off opinions, I am going to have to strongly disagree and encourage you to read up on the products and 3rd party (inbiased) reviews......

i'd rather go off my personal experience both as an installer at a few local shops and as an avid car audio enthusiast ;)

the only brand of sub i've seen returned more for defects are sony's subs, and %90 of those were the earlier xplod subs

same experience here too... I never had any returned unless they were overpowered and therefore cooked.

oh well to each their own, AB beats out pioneer, i can say that and not lose ANY sleep over it. :P

And I'd swear up and down on Infinity, Boston, and Alpine in that case.

Yeah, the damn dustcap just pops off those all the time too. I installed a number of the old black cone subs when I was still installing and I swear they'd come back after a week like that, usually blown and the voice coil fried and completely froze up (mostly from people who couldn't keep their fingers off the gain control, bastards...)
