Your thoughts on Audiobahn.....

i was thinking of getting the profile clarus 1200 amp. i heard my buddies audiobahns and they didnt sound all that bad. sounded good at low and high volumes. so im stuck between the infinitys' and the audiobahns.

The only thing Audiobahn ever had going for them was a great marketing team. If you take a product that only costs $20 dollars to make, make it pretty and shiny. Throw some boobs in there and some riced out cars you have a great advertising campaign. Coupled together with the fact that audiobahn sponsored any idiot that was in the industry in the beginning. Practically giving the person everything he needed.
So consumer A sees the advertising and rushes into backwood bobs stereo shop to hear some. And bob takes him out to his car to throttle his flame Q's. The consumer goes wow bob I have to have those. Thus a sale. And the customer pays $199.99 for his $20.00 woofers and swears by Audiobahn. Why because he doesnt know any better.
Why do you think they have great customer service. Hell blow your sub five or six times and the companies still making money.

There are a few online dealers that make a very good product at a very good price. That will beat out the flamers sub at any price point in all catagories.
Do your homework Store only subs keep an eye out for

I cant stress enough. Audiobahn, MA Audio, Volvenhagen or whatever the hell its called are the Wal-Mart of car audio.
Its not all about voltage and efficiency of an amp.
Efficiency is a subs rating, not an amps.
Amps are all about current (amperage) THD and Damping factor. If an amp cant control a sub it sounds like crap. An amps damping factor is the amps ability to contol the sub in both ways, Thus a more controlled and harder hit. With a ton of more sound quality.
A very important important feature that Audiobahn amps lack.
Anyways you cant get a 1000 watts rms out of a honda anyways, well not without an alternator upgrade.
Im done with ranting right now, morale of the story is if you want to waste your money buy Audiobahn. If you want to get the best for your money shop read and listen....

hahaha, well, I'm married, first of all. And in defense of him, he helped put it all together. When we got the first Zapco amp I was sort of weary about it 'cuz i'd never heard it before. Of course, now I've had a few of them and don't want to go with another amplifier.... ever.

... he just drives the car sometimes and if someone asks he says HIS Honda... but it's still MY car.

I have a Profile amp collecting dust on a shelf in my closet. Before I upgraded (which is quite subjective because I actually didn't really notice that much of a difference BUT I do feel better about the brand name on my new amp) the Profile amp served me well.
It's going into my nephew's Neon when he get's his license in Sept. with an old Polk EX10. Beats the hell outta Pyle and Pyramid.

I agree that Audiobahn overrates their sub wattages. I'm planning on pushing my 1206T's at around 850W RMS each. They are going in a custom built box for 92-95 civic hatches. I'm currently working on a prototype design that should sound really good with the right amp. As for which amp/amps I am getting, I'm not sure. Regardless of whether you like Audiobahn or not, I'm still right. 75% Amp - 25% Sub

come to think of it Pyle may be much more than a trademark, it may be a partial description. Pyle of wasted money, Pyle of s**t in my trunk...etc...I only use Audiobahn because one of my JL's started popping and I coulld get the Audiobahns sent to my house for $250. So I only spent $250 for both the subs and the shipping. I don't have enough money to buy new subs because I'm not just about sound. Unlike you guys, I'm gonna have a 12 second car. Everyone I know with Pioneer subs says they sound like crap. I never said Audiobahn was the best, I said they were better than Pioneer. Thats it. You all assume to much.
if you are comparing the audiobahn subs to the IMPP pioneer subs at walmart, and the cheaper ones at CC, then yes, they are better. the ones I was directing him toward were the premierspl2000s for about 110 apiece on ebay. And you are judging pioneer based on what a few people said, and not having auditioned them yourself? wow, thats a great way to review a subwoofer. I hope you didnt vote last november..... And btw, your 75% to 25% ratio, where in the hell are you getting this? do you even KNOW how a subwoofer works? (besides moving back and forth..)
as far as Pyle, they used to be a very good product before Sound Around got ahold of them. Klipsche owned Pyle, and Crutchfield actually sold their subs back in the day...

I love how people bag on cars with systems... saying it's slow and everything else. if you're THAT much into racing, you don't give a s**t about audio, your car is stripped down to nothing (which I think is pretty f**king dumb for an every day driver). Or, you have something simple... like good mids and highs that weight a whole whopping five pounds.
I hate smart ass f**kers who don't know s**t... "does it weight the back of your car down" ... right, 'cuz the f**king groceries or stroller or spare tire don't add weight either. f**kers!
