AUTO INSURANCE...
a policy needed if you CHOOSE to operate a vehicle on a PUBLIC road with OTHER DRIVERS... something that is required because while operating your vehicle you COULD cause another person harm.. this is to protect them and make sure IF you injure them they are taken care of..

I agree.

FORCED HEALTH INSURANCE...
the idea that by FORCING everyone to buy it, the item decreases in cost... me having or not having insurance does not impact others DIRECTLY...

I respectfully disagree. Having more insured people should create a large enough pool of healthy people to lower the average cost of insurance for everyone. In addition, it should also substantially reduce costs for expensive emergency room visits by the uninsured that taxpayers are now paying for. Now do I think the Bill is the end all -- No. It has problems, but I think it begins to set up a better framework than we currently have.

PROBLEM: hospitals doctors etc.. charge TOO much for the average americans pay scale...

SOLUTION: lower the costs they charge

I agree. We pay more for health care than many other developed countries, but get less.

completely different. I'm covering myself against the illegal or non-insured driver, I'm not paying his premiums.

Guess what's coming up next on the Agenda... Immigration Reform... woohoo
What I am asking is whether you must carry such insurance or whether it is optional?

In the end if this is not gutted by the supreme court or repealed it will lead to a single payer health care system like Canada and EU. May take ten to twenty years but it will happen.

Before we get to a single payer system, this overhaul will force out health insurance companies who already work on low margins. They are going to do it by controlling their rate increases while forcing increased costs from the mandates. The Obama plan is to slowly force out private insurance companies in favor of more Medicare and eventually a government single payer system.

If you think the Government run health care is the answer and everyone will be covered think again!

The Medicare denial rate found in the study was, on a weighted average basis, roughly 1.7 times that of all of the private carriers combined (99,025 divided by 2,447,216 is 4.05%; 6.85% divided by 4.05% =1.69).

I have to carry it if I own a vehicle, but I don't have to pay for car insurance other than my own. Hope that clears it up for you.

This is a problem that the medical profession itself must solve. It must train more primary care physicians and less lucrative specialists.
Right, and this "miracle" plan does nothing to help or solve this problem, it instead makes it worse. win!

Millions of Americans who walk, ride a bike, take a train or public transit buy automobile insurance?
Apparently in Ron's world everyone is forced to buy automobile insurance even if they don't own an automobile. Makes his comparison seem even more idiotic doesn't it? ;)
In the U.S., the percentage of people whose main form of transportation is walking, bicycle, or train is miniscule compared to car drivers, and almost surely much less than the number of people who will not be covered under the Health Care Reform Bill.

It's still an idiotic comparison :oh:

Contrary to what you stated previously, you actually MUST carry car insurance to own and drive your car.

This statement is contrary to what I have read about the Health Care reform Bill. There WILL be cost saving changes implemented.

And do these cost saving changes magically sprout doctors? So the fact is that the number of doctors remains the same and the number of patients increases... yeah, I don't see any type of problems this is going to create... but on the bright side, it'll be cheaper to wait months for your next appointment :???:

A tiny fraction of the population might actually never need to driver a car. Can anyone guarantee that they will never become sick?
No, still does't mean I should have to pay for that persons health insurance. Pay your own or take dayquil until you feel better

If you read the newspapers, you know that medical schools now have implemented plans to train more physicians.
