Hopefully it was that cap....make sure your radiator fan is coming on as well....Should kick on after 5 or 10 minutes during the day idling with hood up. Ive had that fan relay go out before.

Tested fan & relay, all is good there,

UPDATE
Ok, took it to my mechanic to look at & he says it's my radiator, the area where the cap goes on is pitted & corroded, so the new cap is helping a bit but not making a good seal, he did a pressure test & everything seemed ok there, I told him about the crap coming out of the cap & looked at the residue that came out & said that stop leak was put in the radiator, so it looks like I will be replacing my radiator this weekend. So far since I did the repairs yesterday it has not overheated but it is steaming a bit from the cap so I need to keep checking the fluid.

also you have to drain all the air bubbles out. open radiator cap, park car pointed up in a slight inclination, and let it run for 30 minutes.

I have tried to clean the old one but it still looks like that where the cap goes, it's done, now I need an hour tomorrow to do it.

Well I had a hell day, I installed the new radiator & it leaked tranny fluid near the fitting so I had to take it back so I got the other brand they had which is oem style as well & it was a few dollars more, installed it & voila, no leaks. Now this isn't the worst part, I bought new plug wires, so I go to remove the old ones & they wouldn't twist, ended up breaking the rubbers on the ends & the wires came out of the sleeves, I felt like I was s**t out of luck. Got three of them out but it seems the ends were melted a bit & the plastic sleeve was brittle, had to break them in pieces to get them out, take a look.

The last one I had to break out in pieces so that one is not in the pics, what was supposed to take 1 1/2 hrs took 6 hrs, the car is now idling a little rough but wonder if the engine got wet when putting the coolant in, I splashed a bit, no cel codes yet & yes it works.

After changing the spark plugs, cap & rotor, and the wires, mine ran crappy for a little while too. I guess the ECU had to adjust in order to run right, because it went away after a while.

Damn man i have been on my fair share of those supposed to be easy and take 30 min turns into your entire day. Glad everything seemed to work out in the end. Keep us updated on that idle.

Idle is still rough & now I have new wires & plugs installed, The cap & rotor still look new inside but that doesn't mean anything since I have not changed it yet. I am now getting p301(cylinder 1) p302 (cylinder 2) & p1300 which is multiple missfire.

OK so here is the news so far, I changed my cap & rotor & I'm now getting a p302(cylinder 2 missfire), car still idles rough, I tried adjusting the dizzy but it didn't help, I'm going to my mechanic as soon as I can, the car drives but when I'm at a light it feels like it wants to die. On to other news, I painted my valve cover, going to let it fully dry & I'll install it this weekend unless I find time to do it during the week, here are pics, & yes I decided to do it solid, I'm just being lazy & I'll take the old one & work on it.
