Single slammer = SOHC OP, I've run into your issue before. I overheated while delivering pizza, managed to limp it back to home base, but the damage had been already done. Cam seized up and the head was toast.

Yeah, it looks like you'll need a replacement unfortunately. The good news is that this looks to be an easy fix.

Questions to ask your mechanic: What side are the plugs melted on? If near the wires, replace the wires. If the other end, were the plugs incorrectly / not gapped? Is it every plug, or just from one cylinder? One cylinder only could mean that you have a bad fuel injector, so that cylinder runs...

The CEL is your friend, pull the code and that should surely identify your issue. How does the car run when it's at normal operating temp?

:welcome: I don't think that's the issue. That is not how the car is built.. if that were the case, wouldn't every Civic owner have this same issue? Plus, electronics short when they get wet.. that would most likely cause damage to the ECU and prevent it from working properly regardless of if...

My buddy owned an AWD civic... didn't build it himself though. With that being said, OP, I'm sure your car is FWD like normal.
