Refer to my other post again...

am·e·thyst (n.)
1. A purple or violet form of transparent quartz used as a gemstone.
2. A purple variety of corundum used as a gemstone.
3. A moderate purple to grayish reddish purple.

I understand you determination to prove that the color is purple. But I must say, it's blue. Not only is it a blue color, but it says "Blue" on my state registration title. Please look at these pics and tell me the car is not blue.

Just because the name of the paint says amethyst doesnt mean it's purple. What about Seafoam green? Have you ever seen seafoam that was lime green?

Look here, www.paintscratch.com. 1997, Honda Civic and look down at dark amethyst pearl. Now, granted that is a color chart and doesnt fully represent the real color, but in no way shape or form does that have even a hint of purple.

I will say at some point the color looks a bit violetish but not purple.

And some places/some people would title it as purple. :what: I see them sell as purple and blue, but honestly... it's purple.

Oh, and http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=raot9t (first pic I found when I searched for it)

Plus, Honda has a way of organizing their color codes. Blue colors all start with B. Red colors with R. This color starts with PB. So... "purple-blue" perhaps?

Other than the interior shot, it looks purple.

My car is deep red (roma red) outside, but inside it's just flat red. It looks exactly the same as the interior of Amy's car (millano red), even tho the outside is totally different. They don't do the same prep and coating on the inside chassis as they do on the outside.

My interior is the same color as your's even though we have different paint colors too. ;) (Different shades of red.) I imagine sine there are already a couple dark shades of blue used by Honda that it's economical to just use that interior coating on the PB car too.

Economical? Whats economical about changing the color twice on an assembly line? That would cost more to paint the outside one color and the inside a different.

I'm not hating, but I'm saying I had a DAP car..it's blue. To call the color purple I would say is not correct. Maybe bluish-violet is more like it man, but not purple. I drove the car around for 4-5 months and it never really looked purple.. The inside is straight up blue, and so was the engine bay.

I meant... if they already have a dark blue interior paint then it would be economical to just paint the interior of the purple cars that too instead of making a purple interior paint also. The paint on the interior of cars with pearl exterior paint is not pearl... so I can only imagine it's not the same paint.

And I've seen lots of DAP cars and they always look purple to me.

The cars are on an assembly line. They are dipped through a sealer, then primed and painted with automated robots. The interior/engine bay paint is the same basecoat as the exterior color just without flake/pearl/ and clearcoat. So that means the color that you see inside your car is the BASE paint without the extra additives. Once the whole car has been sprayed, it goes through a series of finishing touches such as the finishing base and the clearcoat.

It wouldnt be very smart as an automaker to paint a car twice, or with two different colors. Also, the color of the paint has no effect on it's cost. Maybe if you have black base with gold and platnium flake, then its going to cost more.

I dont mind discussing what color my car used to be, I'm simply saying that it's not purple.

I know my exterior paint costs more. :what: It has an extra coat. And I still say it's purple.

Why is your paint more expensive?

If you go to any automotive paint supply store and look through a book of colors, they are all going to be the same price. Now, I'll say that a flat satin black isnt as expensive as a Lime/Yellow candy, but from a KIA paint to Lamborghini it's cost the same.

I'm talking about material, not labor.

It has an extra coat more than most paints. I have a tricoat, a clear tinted coat below my clearcoat. I'm talking about repainting, even just buying new paint for a fender for my car would cost more than the same for a fender off my boyfriend's hatch.

And I do not agree with you that all paints, no matter if produced by Kia or Lamborghini, sell for the same or cost the same.

I say it's both purple and blue, it just matters on how the light hits it.
