surely there are exceptions. but the general trend is that private school "teaches" students more effectively although it is arguable that they lose a bit in social skills because as far as i knew private schools lacked that side of things.

Definitely. I would have LOVED to attend a Private school as a child(Now that I look back and how it would've helped me more now) but it's too late. My parents didn't have enough money to put me through one. Although the odds DO seem to be against the kids who do live in poverty, it just takes some initiative, alot of commitment and some courage to get to the top. Even if some kids have less to encourage them in school they shouldn't just blame where they come from. It's all within the individual like I said...

well thats the thing brotha....there is no equality...to go back to the couple responses that dealt with inner city schools.

go to an inner city school....look at the textbooks, the chairs, the walls, the posters, the hallways, the cafeteria, the rules, the classes offered, the teacher's certifications, the administration's certifications, etc, etc....you will see that inner city schools are a different world from your preppy urban schools that sometimes look f**king bigger than some small colleges.

those that make it out of this world....deserve the most respect because they beat a system that so far is designed to steer them not towards higher education but towards the quickest job they can find.

i am not saying that white kids dont go to these schools either...and i argue for them as well as i argue for minorities....but the truth is that the number of white kids in schools like these is very very small my friend.

I agree, there is no equality, but giving reperations for racial wrongdoings in the past (i.e. minority scholarships) is not the way to go about getting to equality. Equality will happen, when the most deserving people can get into school regardless of race, the inner city schools are funded properly and most importantly, people in general are less ignorant and treat people equally.

and until this happens..there should be scholarships for those people who had to fight so hard just to even be able to get to the point where they have a college app in front of them.

also...it seems most people here are ignoring the fact that there are plenty of scholarships that latinos are not elligible for for one reason or another. so why keep acting like were the only ones who get scholarships.

oh....and it has been statistically proven that minorities in colleges and school settings in general help make everyone's education a better one. shouldnt you be thankful to me

You dont simply get money cause your black or latino. That would be a reparation

Minority scholarships look for minority children with different stipulations

Some are for low income black families with high gpa

Some are for irish families with high gpa..

You dont just get to go to college cause your black..

You do however get to go to college if your native american and live on a reservation. Yes the government will pay for any college of your choosing.. But thats because the Native american race badly needs help.

Take two families of the same financial situations, barley making it on paycheck to paycheck (if they have a job at all) and a child of one family is just as bright and has as much potential as another. ok man sit down on this one because its going to be hard to believe.. there are white people that live in the ghetto.. yup that's right.. there are POOR POOR white kids living in trailer parks.. inner city slums.. all over the country.. see somehow they missed on on that bonus one million dollars we get when born white [sarcasm] believe it on not im white if you want to call it that.. lol im "white" i think thats so funny as im not really "white" at all color wise.. but you know what i mean.... i know i know.. its hard to believe... so anyway let me tell you a little about my life.. my mom was an alcoholic.. she's dead.. my father when i was younger was a poor laborer.. he did plumbing. he made just enough to get by... we rented my whole life (he has since found success but that's a whole nother thread.. lol) anyway i was mostly raised by my struggling grandparents..... i went to public school.. i didnt have a yacht.. or a lexus.. i could not afford to buy a car till 21 because the money i earned had to go to help with basic needs like clothing and s**t....we barely got by.. i didn't blame anyone.. i was simply happy to have a roof over my head.. i went to college for a while.. and well i paid for it myself.. my dad helped as he could but he was struggling to get his jewelry business going.. and i finally got involved with the company i work for now.. just bougth my first home.. with next to no help from anyone (financially.. my family has supported me in other ways).. i didnt get here because i was white.. i got here because i hussled and made things happen..so anyway the point is.. your oh so hard life.. the struggles of the black man.. are felt by everyone poor.. and well to be honest we are tired of hearing about how you have it so hard.. because well to be blunt.. you dont.. your in america.. where you have the chance to become what you want to.. and you actually just by being black have more chance than me.. an average boring white person.. seriously..
